CAR NEWS - May 2007 Longbridge Reopens Making MG Cars Two years after the collapse of Rover, part of the Longbridge plant has reopened and is making MG sports cars. The target is to produce 15,000 new cars per year. MG is now owned by the Chinese company Nanjing Automobile Corporation who are tight lipped about this year's expected production levels. They have a 30 year lease on the premises and have promised to maintain production at the plant. They have invested £250 million in the brand. Sales are planned to UK and European markets. The first model is the MG TF which is similar to the car made by the former Rover Group.
