CAR NEWS - Feb 2007 March 2007 Set For Big Rise In New Car Sales With the launch of the 07 number plate, March is set to show a big rise in demand for new cars in the UK. The SMMT expects sales to top 400,000 in the UK compared to around 75,000 for February 2007 (stop press - actual total of new cars bought was 73,586, a 3.2% drop on last year). Now might be a good time to snap up some bargains. Car registration plates now change in March and September with the appearance of the 07 and 57 numbers respectively. It might be a good time to let the dealers know that you are looking for a bargain and would consider helping them to offload their remaining 2006 stock. Savings of several thousand pounds are possible as dealers try to reach their targets and not to be left with old stock. And, if you are happy with specifications that were all the rage a couple of months ago, then why not consider taking one of these older spec vehicles if the price is right.
Cars depreciate in value as soon as you have driven off the forecourt so you could offset this by taking advantage of discounts available for an older vehicle. You may need to press a little for the best discount but, if you do your preparation well, you might gain a bargain given that the dealers don't want to be left holding old stock. Be prepared to walk away if the dealer doesn't meet your demands. A little haggling over that new car could pay dividends.
