BUYER'S REMORSE

Buyers Remorse - What it is and how to avoid it.
Buyer's Remorse is that sinking feeling you might get after you have bought your new car. Maybe you rushed into the deal, or bought the wrong car, but when buyer's remorse kicks in, its usually too late to do anything about it.

The trick is to be well prepared before you settle on a purchase. Is this new car really what you want? Can I afford it? Are there hidden extras that I'm missing in my rush to get the car? Am I paying over the odds for something I can get cheaper elsewhere?

buyer remorse No one likes to make mistakes. Buying a car is one of the most important financial transactions that you will make. If you are buying a new car, you may find that you need something that will last you a long time, e.g. 5 years, and you may well think that you should spread the finance over the full period. But, in the cold light of day, did you sit down and work out how much you will spend over that period? Best to know that figure before putting your signature on a new car deal, rather than afterwards.

We have all shown off a new purchase to our friends or family only for someone to say "I know where you can get them much cheaper than that!". Finding alternative sources of new cars is just one of the things you should do by way of preparation. Insurances associated with new car purchases fall into this category. Remember that the dealers will try to sell you Gap Insurance and Payment Protection Insurance in the package. It's best to use services like the ones we offer from this site to shop around for cheaper or better insurance.

Buying a new car can involve your emotions. These affect your choice of car, whether you're doing it to go one better on the folks next door, whether the car you want looks cool or sexy, or whether you're seeking to attain some social status that you have always strived for. But, having something can be an anti-climax when you find that the grass is not so green as you had expected. Then, buyer's remorse kicks in and you feel bad about it.

You can avoid buyer's remorse by doing your homework ahead of the purchase, checking as widely as is reasonably possible for alternatives, and then coolly working out the true cost of your new car. If you're still happy to buy the car, then don't regret it later. After all, there's little you can do about it so there's no point upsetting yourself. Learn from your mistakes and treat them as valuable lessons for next time, rather than using the error as a stick to beat yourself with. No one is perfect and it is self-destructive to be too hard on yourself. And, when Johhny Know-all tells you that you've done the wrong thing, just reply that it was the best deal you felt that you could get at the time and that's the end of it.
